$108,000–$122,000 base + superannuation (Flexible for a higher salary for a more senior candidate) - Non for profit tax perks will be provided + 15% superannuation

The System & Database Administrator (SDA) is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security and optimisation of the client's infrastructure, cloud platforms, identity services and database environments.
n
The role ensures core technology services remain secure, available, reliable and fit for purpose while supporting operational excellence, cybersecurity requirements and organisational growth.

Key Areas of Responsibility
n
Infrastructure & Platform Administration
n
n
Administer Microsoft 365, Azure and hybrid infrastructure environments.
n
Maintain Windows Server operating systems and associated infrastructure services.
n
Administer Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory and identity-related services.
n
Support Microsoft Intune administration and endpoint management platforms.
n
Monitor system health, availability, performance and capacity.
n
Support backup, recovery and disaster recovery capabilities.
n
Maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks and standard operating procedures.
n
Participate in infrastructure projects and technology improvement initiatives.
n
n
Database Administration
n
n
Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments.
n
Execute and monitor database maintenance, including backups, integrity checks, index optimisation and performance tuning.
n
Monitor database health, availability and capacity.
n
Manage database access controls, security roles and permissions.
n
Support database upgrades, migrations and lifecycle management.
n
Troubleshoot database incidents and coordinate specialist vendor support.

Data & Platform Services
n
n




Support Microsoft Fabric environments and associated data services.
n
Assist with SQL-based data extraction and operational reporting requirements.
n
Monitor data platform health and investigate failures or performance issues.
n
Conduct data validation and integrity checks.
n
Support integration services between cloud, infrastructure and data platforms.
n
Contribute to information management, data governance and retention initiatives.
n

Identity, Security & Compliance
n
n
Administer Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
n
Manage user lifecycle processes and privileged access controls.
n
Maintain role-based access models aligned with least-privilege principles.
n
Support Multi-Factor Authentication and Conditional Access controls.
n
Participate in vulnerability remediation, security hardening and platform patching.
n
Support audit, compliance and governance activities.
n
Maintain backup, retention and recovery controls.
n
n
Incident Management & Operational Support
n
n
Act as an escalation point for infrastructure, platform and database incidents.
n
Investigate, diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
n
Coordinate with MSPs, vendors and specialist providers.
n
Conduct root cause analysis and identify preventative measures.
n
Maintain knowledge articles, technical guides and troubleshooting documentation.
n

Essential Qualifications & Experience
n
n
Degree,



Diploma or equivalent experience in Information Technology or a related discipline.
n
Minimum 5 years' experience in systems administration, infrastructure administration (70% of the role).
n
Database Administration (20% of the role), including copying databases and moving databases.
n
Familiarity with SQL Database, including database patching and understanding how to shut down a database without shutting down a server.
n
Experience managing databases when splitting a database from one server.Not coding or managing the tables inside the database.
n
Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft 365, Azure and Windows Server environments.
n
Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory and identity management.
n
Hands-on Microsoft SQL Server administration experience including backup, recovery, security and performance tuning.
n
Experience with Microsoft Intune and endpoint management technologies.
n
Understanding of cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity and operational support practices.
n
Demonstrated understanding of ITIL and IT Service Management processes.
n
Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and documentation skills.
n
Valid driver's licence and right to work in Australia.
n
Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, or comparable data integration platforms.
n
Vendor certifications in SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, or relevant platform applications.
n
Experience supporting multi-campus IT operations across geographically distributed locations.
n
Current certification in ITIL-aligned strategies or ITSM processes.
