Purpose of the Role

The Team Doctor will provide medical services to players and staff of the Matildas (Senior Women's National Team), working within a multidisciplinary high-performance workplace to support preparation and competition performance.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Lead player health promotion and injury/illness management in collaboration with the performance health team.
n
Conduct player medical screening, pre-camp clearance, and cardiac screening reviews.
n
Provide medical care and emergency pitch-side support during camps, tours, and competitions.
n
Attend medical meetings and contribute to prevention and management strategies.
n
Maintain secure medical records within Football Australia's athlete management system.
n
Liaise with club medical staff, coaching staff, team management, and Football Australia's Chief Medical Officer.
n
Produce post-camp reports for the Chief Medical Officer and General Manager of Performance.
n

Essential Experience
n

Emergency Medicine and Sports Medicine expertise.
n
High-performance sport environment experience with sound decision-making under pressure.
n
Experience working with teams and multidisciplinary performance staff.
n
Strong communication, professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
n
n
Desirable Experience
n
n
Football-specific experience.
n
Experience with a professional club or national sporting organisation.
n
Experience working with female athletes.
n

Qualifications
n
Required
n

Medical Degree
n
Member of the College of Sports Physicians
n
Advanced Emergency Care / CPR certification
n
n
Desirable
n
n
Sport and Exercise Medicine Specialist or Registrar
n
Sports Doctor or Emergency Physician
n
FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine
n
Member of Sports Medicine Australia
n
n
