Aussie Painters Network is looking for an experienced Painter & Decorator who is interested in making the move into training the next generation of painters.
n
We're not necessarily looking for an experienced trainer. We're looking for an experienced painter with the right attitude who we can help become a outstanding trainer.

What the role involves.
n
You'll work with painting apprentices, community and school program participants, helping them develop the practical skills and knowledge they need to become good tradespeople.
n
This isn't about standing in front of a classroom reading from a textbook. It's about taking the knowledge you've built over years in the industry and passing it on through practical, real-world training.
n
Depending on the role, you'll be working with apprentices, community and school program participants both at our training facility and out in the industry.
n
You'll cover areas such as:
n

Surface preparation and repairs
n
Brush, roller and spray application
n
Decorative and specialist finishes
n
Tools and equipment
n
Planning and organising work
n
Quality workmanship and industry standards
n
The practical knowledge that only comes from actually working in the trade
n
n
Who we're looking for!
n
You might be a good fit if you:
n
n




Are a qualified Painter & Decorator with solid industry experience
n
Take pride in doing the job properly
n
Enjoy showing apprentices or younger painters how to improve
n
Have patience and can communicate with people from different backgrounds
n
Understand that everyone learns differently
n
Are comfortable working independently
n
Still want to be involved in the painting industry, but are ready for something different
n
n
Previous training experience is an advantage, but it isn't essential.
n
If you've ever had an apprentice working alongside you and enjoyed watching them develop, you may already have more of the skills needed to become a trainer than you realise.
n
Don't have your Training & Assessment qualification?
n

For the right person, we're prepared to work with you on the pathway into training and obtaining the qualifications required to become a trainer and assessor.
n
What we can't teach as easily is 10, 15, 20 or 30 years of genuine painting industry experience.
n
