About the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF)
The ILF is a national charity working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander remote Communities across Australia. We are Community-led, responding to requests from remote Communities for culturally relevant books, including early learning board books, resources, and programs to support Communities to create and publish their stories in languages of their choice.
About the role
The Publishing Department Coordinator provides support to the Publishing team by handling administrative tasks and helping to coordinate schedules and activity around the publication process, including production. The Publishing Department Coordinator will also have responsibility for some titles (initially translations) with the support of the Publishing team.
Key responsibilities of the role
Coordination of publishing schedules and Work in Progress
Preparing materials for meetings, including agendas and minutes
Assisting with the production and maintenance of the critical path as required
Keeping the publishing company's database and records up to date
Working with editors to support their needs as required
Supporting the development of framework and projects
Submissions for Book Awards
Build and maintain relationships with communities and stakeholders
Communicate clearly and consistently with communities and stakeholders
Supporting internal ILF teams as required
About you and your fit
A good understanding of the company's identity, mission, and goals




Knowledge of book production and distribution process (a bonus)
Experience working with First Nations authors, communities or organisations—or a demonstrated commitment to culturally respectful publishing and continuous learning (highly regarded)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
An eye for detail and consistency
The ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise them well
An aptitude for a fast-paced workplace where you can adjust to changing priorities
Strong interpersonal skills and can work both independently and as part of a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other publishing software including Google
Hold a current Working with Children Check
