About the role
n
The Manager - Policy & Research leads Australian Red Cross' public policy and research function, ensuring the organisation has clear, evidence-informed research and policy foundations that underpin our work.
n
Reporting to the Director Humanitarian Diplomacy and Policy, the role shapes and delivers our Research Agenda and policy priorities, driving the production of high-quality analysis, frameworks, policy positions and research outputs to inform humanitarian diplomacy, government engagement, and program design. You will provide leadership, manage the Adviser – Policy & Research, and foster collaboration across Directorates, State and Territory offices, government and external research and policy partners.

What you will bring
n
n
Substantial experience in leading or managing a policy or research function in a complex organisation.
n
Substantial experience in developing public policy positions in humanitarian , social policy, or related fields - in a government or not-for-profit setting.
n
Advanced research and analytical skills, with the demonstrated ability to translate research and evidence into credible, actionable policy outputs
n
Strategic thinking and political awareness, with the ability to anticipate emerging issues and position the organisation proactively.
n




High level of interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and with the ability to prepare high-quality policy briefs, papers, and frameworks.
n
Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to broker alignment across diverse teams and external partners.
n
Demonstrated leadership skills, including managing staff and building capability.
n
