Job Description
We're an Australian-founded and owned digital health platform on a mission to help people achieve the best possible health outcomes through best-in-class health programs.
n
We know traditional healthcare isn't always meeting the needs of modern patients, and we reckon there's a better, more holistic way. Our programs across hair loss, sexual health, skincare, mental health and weight management are easy, accessible and completely discreet.
n
More than a job
n
There's nothing better than knowing the work you're doing matters and makes a genuine difference. We're pretty lucky that, at Mosh & Moshy, this is the norm rather than the exception.
n
We are passionate technologists with an appreciation for clean code and fault tolerant systems. We believe in leveraging different perspectives and backgrounds because that makes our team and product stronger.
n
We look for teammates who are:
n
n
Curious and aim to understand things deeply.
n
Respectful and inclusive.
n
Comfortable sharing the grunt work.
n
n
What you will do
n
As a Staff Software Engineer (Backend) you will:
n
n
Set the technical direction for our backend engineering, shaping architecture, driving alignment, and raising the bar across the engineering organisation.
n
Design, build and own APIs and services that serve as the core building blocks of our platform.
n
Write clean, well-tested code, conduct code reviews, produce clear documentation and take the lead on solving the hardest technical challenges.
n
Define and evolve backend engineering standards, patterns and golden paths that teams across Mosh adopt and build on.
n
Drive the decomposition of monolithic applications into well-bounded, domain-driven services.
n
Design and implement workflow and orchestration systems that power complex, multi-step clinical and operational processes.
n
Build and maintain CI/CD infrastructure that makes deployments and releases reliable and stress-free.
n
Use a data-driven approach to decide when recent infrastructure or services are warranted.
n
Design and run experiments on new and emerging technologies, documenting findings and recommendations clearly.
n
Contribute to automated regression, performance and resiliency testing to keep production stable and fast.
n
Drive operational excellence by instrumenting observability, authoring runbooks and actively contributing to incident response and resolution.
n
Proactively identify and champion improvements to our software engineering practices and standards.
n
Mentor engineers across experience levels, modelling best practice and actively raising the bar across the team.
n
Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product and design to shape clean API contracts and deliver great end-to-end experiences.
n
Help grow the engineering team through interviews and code reviews.
n
n
What you will bring
n
n
A healthy curiosity, strong autonomy and a deep sense of accountability for your work.
n
A genuine drive to grow as an engineer and raise the standard of those around you.
n
Demonstrated technical initiative and a penchant for clean code.
n
8+ years of experience designing, building, deploying and scaling API-driven systems.

Fluency in at least one modern backend language (e.g. Kotlin, Java, Go, TypeScript)
n
Strong experience with relation databases like PostgreSQL
n
Strong experience running production workloads on public cloud platforms, particularly AWS
n
Strong experience with Linux, Docker and Kubernetes
n
Hands on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform

n
n
Cloud architecture principles and patterns
n
Distributed systems, fault tolerance and resiliency patterns
n
API best practices, including contract-first design (e.g. OpenAPI/AsyncAPI), versioning strategies and backwards compatibility
n
Event-driven architecture patterns, including messaging, streaming and eventual consistency (e.g. Kafka, SNS/SQS)
n
Workflow and orchestration engines for modelling complex, long-running business processes (e.g. Temporal, AWS Step Functions, Conductor)
n
n
Nice to have:
n
Healthcare, fintech, or other regulated industry background.
n
What's on offer
n
We support a mix of in-office, hybrid and remote working across Australia.
