We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Book-keeper/Financial Accountant to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This is a broad and varied role suited to someone who is organised, accurate, commercially minded and confident working across finance, payroll, compliance, reporting and general business administration.

About the role
n
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Book-keeper/Financial Accountant to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This is a broad and varied role suited to someone who is organised, accurate, commercially minded and confident working across finance, payroll, compliance, reporting and general business administration.

Key responsibilities
n
n
Manage the full finance function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, supplier payments, banking and reconciliations.
n
Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow statements and internal management reports.
n
Oversee general ledger management, month-end processes, accruals, journals, fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
n
Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, variance analysis and cash flow reporting.
n
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, statutory reporting obligations and internal controls.
n
Prepare and/or lodge relevant tax and payroll compliance obligations, including GST, FBT, Payroll Tax, PAYG and superannuation.
n
Process weekly payroll and maintain accurate payroll records, employee details and related documentation.
n
Liaise with external auditors, banks, tax specialists, overseas accountants, lawyers, customers and vendors as required.
n
Supervise and support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Reception staff.
n
Identify and implement process improvements, system enhancements and initiatives that improve efficiency and reporting quality.

About you
n
n
Previous experience in a Book‐keeping, Financial Accounting or similar hands‐on finance role.
n
Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, reconciliations, reporting and statutory compliance.
n
Experience with GST, FBT, Payroll Tax, PAYG and superannuation obligations.
n
High attention to detail with strong organisation, time management and problem‐solving skills.
n
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
n
Robust communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with staff, customers, suppliers and external advisers.
n
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using accounting, payroll and ERP systems.
n
CPA, CA or relevant accounting qualifications will be highly regarded.
n
Experience in a manufacturing or defense‐related environment, and familiarity with ISO **** quality systems, would be beneficial.
