Job Description Job Description HD Mechanic - Field Service | Perth WA / FIFO We are recruiting an experienced HD Mechanic / Field Service Mechanic for a well-established Western Australian business supporting the mining and resources sector.
This is a full time opportunity based from Hazelmere, Perth , with FIFO site work maintaining and repairing a fleet of drill rigs, heavy trucks, light vehicles and associated equipment .
The role will suit a qualified tradesperson with broad mechanical knowledge who is confident working independently in field service environments and diagnosing faults across heavy mobile equipment.
Key responsibilities include: Carry out preventative and scheduled maintenance across drill rigs, heavy trucks, light vehicles and mobile equipment Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults Attend field breakdowns and complete repairs safely and efficiently Perform general servicing, component replacement and fault finding Work with hydraulic systems and associated heavy equipment components Support welding and fabrication repairs where required Maintain accurate service and maintenance records Follow site safety procedures, isolation requirements and company standards Work independently across FIFO and field service environments Communicate clearly with site teams regarding equipment condition, repairs and outstanding maintenance Requirements Requirements Recognised Mechanical Trade qualification Minimum 3 years post-trade experience Previous experience as an HD Mechanic, Plant Mechanic,



Field Service Mechanic or similar Strong experience diagnosing and maintaining heavy mobile equipment General knowledge and practical experience with hydraulic systems Previous exposure to drill rigs, HD trucks and light vehicles highly regarded Compressor knowledge would be advantageous Auto electrical fault-finding experience would be advantageous Welding and fabrication experience would be advantageous Ability to work independently in field service and remote environments Strong commitment to safety and correct isolation procedures Current Australian working rights Ability and willingness to work FIFO from Perth HR licence preferred Forklift licence preferred Benefits Benefits Full-time Field Service opportunity FIFO work within the mining and resources sector Work across a varied fleet including drill rigs, heavy vehicles and mobile equipment Opportunity to use both mechanical and diagnostic skills in the field Established Western Australian employer Long-term opportunity for an experienced heavy mechanical tradesperson Broad exposure across maintenance, breakdowns and field service operations Requirements Supervise and coordinate asphalt crews across Perth metro projects.
Plan daily activities and allocate work to crew members.
Operate asphalt machinery when required and support the team on site.
Oversee asphalt laying, paving, rolling and finishing work.
Conduct pre-start meetings and site safety checks.
Ensure work meets project specifications and quality standards.
Monitor equipment, materials and site productivity.
Train, guide and support crew members.
Complete daily site records and report project progress.
Maintain compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
Work night shifts, weekends and away from home when required.
