About the Role We are seeking a qualified and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team.
The successful candidate will assist with the preparation and delivery of our modern Japanese menu while maintaining high standards of quality, consistency and presentation.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced commercial kitchen, work effectively with others and have strong knowledge of Japanese ingredients, flavours and cooking techniques.
You must be organised, able to manage multiple tasks and remain calm under pressure.
Key Responsibilities ● Planning and developing Japanese dishes and menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies.
● Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation to maintain consistent standards.
● Discussing food preparation and service issues with management, kitchen staff and waiting staff.
● Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising kitchen staff on preparation, portioning and presentation procedures.
● Preparing and cooking a range of Japanese dishes to a high standard.
● Ensuring compliance with hygiene, food safety and kitchen sanitation requirements.
● Assisting with the selection, training and supervision of kitchen staff.
● Managing stock rotation, food storage and wastage to maintain freshness and minimise loss.
Qualifications Skills ● Trade Qualifications: At least a Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
● Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience as a Chef.
● Knowledge and experience in high-volume food preparation and a fast-paced dining environment; experience with Japanese cuisine is highly regarded.
● High-level interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
● Proven ability to work effectively under pressure.
● Availability to work a flexible roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
● Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $79,****** – $82,****** per year Work Authorisation: Australia (Preferred) Work Location: In person
