THE ROLE
The Senior Technical Adviser is an exciting and energetic role which contributes to continuous improvement and manages departmental workers' compensation claims.
The role requires both technical expertise and strong relationship building skills.
The Senior Technical Adviser works in collaboration with key stakeholders to manage WorkCover claims from liability through to conclusion.
The Senior Technical Adviser coordinates systems and processes to achieve positive, timely and cost-effective resolution of claims and comply with relevant legislation and related guidelines, departmental policies, procedures and systems.
The Senior Technical Adviser provides authoritative, timely, technical advice and establishes strong working relationships across the department.
As part of the role, you will be required to guide, coach and support people leaders to ensure best practices with regards to the prevention of psychosocial and physical injuries, to identify and report on injury/illness trends and emerging issues and provide on-going support in the strategic management of such injuries.
A critical aspect of this role will be the ability to build productive working relationships with departmental staff, managers and external stakeholders including the department's WorkCover Agent, WorkSafe Victoria, the relevant unions and contract service providers.
Therefore, requires someone with sound stakeholder management experience, advanced report writing, analysis experience and presentation skills
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE




* Provide expert advice on matters arising in relation to the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act and associated regulations.
Liaise with government and industry regulators as required and provide advice to management in regard to interactions.
* Initiate, recommend, implement and review strategic initiatives for improving the departments WorkCover performance & claims costs in accordance with relevant legislation, related guidelines, departmental policies, procedures and systems.
* Ensure compliance with legislation, WorkSafe and Insurer requirements and departmental Policy.
