Operating across two Virginia properties with extensive greenhouse facilities, our client is seeking to add a Primary Product Inspector to support consistent product quality, food safety, grading standards and efficient fresh produce operations.
The Primary Product Inspector is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the quality, safety and compliance of fresh produce throughout receiving handling, processing, packing, storage and dispatch operations at Adelaide Hydro Fresh.
The role ensures that produce meets established quality specifications, food safety requirements and customer standards while supporting effective quality assurance procedures across the business.
The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: • Planting and harvesting of produce for production processes.
• Inspecting produce for quality specifications in accordance with customers' requirements.
• Grading of produce including basil and fancy lettuce lines during processing and making sure these lines meet all standards and requirements.




• Ensuring that required standards of hygiene and other food safety elements are observed at storage, processing and packing.
• Providing guidance on pest and disease identification, advising on regulations related to the grading, packaging and loading of our agricultural products.
• Auditing and monitoring quality assurance procedures on farms and at food handling/processing stages to ensure adherence to established standards Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role: • Minimum Diploma or higher qualification in Horticulture or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum one year of relevant practical experience in fresh produce, horticulture, food production, food processing is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of fresh produce quality standards and inspection procedures.
• Ability to identify product defects, deterioration, contamination and quality variations.
• Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and quality assurance principles.
• Knowledge of produce grading, sorting, packing, storage and handling requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when conducting inspections and maintaining records.
• Ability to analyse quality issues and recommend practical corrective actions.
• Positive documentation and report-writing skills.
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
