Our church is looking for a manager (or couple) for our Community OpShop to help ease the burden on the team.
See below for the role description.
At this stage the position will be 15hrs per week which could be spread out over 3-4 or 5 days during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8-4pm).
The Community Op Shop manager will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations and maintaining the key purposes of the shop.
The Op Shop was established to serve a three-fold purpose.
It exists to provide a space for the growth of community, to provide affordable and quality household items for those in need, and provide a vital revenue stream to the Tin Can Bay Community Church to help us support our ministries and wider mission giving.
Modelling a life and leadership style that is inline with Jesus' own example of servant leadership.
Model and encourage ethical behaviour and practice consistent with our core values as outlined in the Code of Conduct.
Adhere to our church policies and procedures.
People Management
Provide management of the store with a particular focus on providing a welcoming shopping experience for customers through the provision of quality and affordable recycled goods.
Provide supervision and guidance in relation to the day-to‐day operations of the store.
Encourage a culture of loving God and loving others.
Undertake regular one‐on‐one sessions with staff and volunteers as necessary.
Contribute to maintaining a supportive team environment by communicating with team leaders, staff and volunteers in a positive and encouraging manner.
Facilitate the professional development of staff and volunteers and assist them to participate in appropriate training.
Recruit,



train and support volunteers in accordance with the Op Shop policies and procedures
Provide regular feedback to staff and volunteers and recognise accomplishments.
Maintain rosters and allocate tasks for staff and volunteers.
Maintain an accurate database of volunteers.
Coordinate the sorting of all incoming donations.
Oversee systems for the labelling and pricing of all donated goods.
Review and evaluate Op Shop activities and make recommendations for improvement.
Teamwork
Support the Church Councils decisions and ensure that instructions are carried out.
Alert the senior Pastor to any emerging issues or critical incidents that may impact upon the growth, stability and sustainability of the relevant program/work area(s).
Attend and actively participate in regular team meetings and forums as required.
Report to the pastor and church leadership as required.
Work Health and Safety
Maintain a safe and healthy workplace, identify and act upon potential workplace hazards and identify and implement procedures to manage and minimise risks within your team environment.
Promote and adhere to Workplace Health and Safety guidelines.
Assist in developing strategies to ensure the Op Shop is a secure environment for staff, volunteers and visitors.
Resource Management
Monitor financial reports, expenditure and budget to meet budgetary requirements.
Maintain records of activities as required for accountability purposes.
Manage resources and risks efficiently and effectively.
Work within established or negotiated financial and time constraints.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
Staff will be consulted over major changes to their position descriptions, however, duties and responsibilities may vary from time to time to maintain "Best Practice" standards of service delivery.
You may be assigned other duties as reasonably requested within your level of skills and qualifications.
