Legal Counsel position for a global insurer and speciality risk provider that has been demonstrating strong performance and growth within the local market.
The scope of the role will be to provide support on legal and regulatory matters affecting the Australian and Recent Zealand operations.
Reporting into and supporting the Head of Legal & Compliance the team are responsible for legal and compliance advice and the management of frameworks across numerous entities in Australia and New Zealand.
The Legal team provides internal legal support, and coordinates external expertise where required, to assist the business in making informed commercial and corporate decisions and supports business units by providing advice and guidance on legal matters, including commercial arrangements and contracts.
You will provide advice to the business on matters including reinsurance, corporate and strategic initiatives and draft, review,



and assist in negotiating contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to help protect the company's interests.
The ideal candidate will be 4-7 years' post-qualified with mid/top-tier law firm training and/or as an in-house Legal Counsel with exposure to the life insurance industry.
In addition, some experience across corporate/commercial law, regulatory compliance and the drafting and reviewing of agreements (not pure litigation experience).
You must exercise strong commercial judgment and ability to identify legal risks and escalat appropriately.
In addition, you must demonstrate clear communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
