The Opportunity
n
An established Mackay organisation is seeking an experienced HR, Recruitment & Payroll Coordinator to join its team in a broad, hands-on role.
n
This is a great opportunity for an HR all-rounder who enjoys variety and wants ownership across recruitment, payroll, employee relations and general HR operations.
n
A major focus will be recruiting for large projects, including trade-based roles such as Boilermakers and Fitters, while also overseeing weekly payroll, Awards, WorkCover and day-to-day HR support.
n
You will work closely with senior management and be supported by an existing Recruitment Officer.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment
n
n
Manage end-to-end recruitment across the business
n
Recruit trade, project and professional personnel
n
Coordinate advertising, screening, shortlisting and reference checks
n
Manage onboarding, new starter documentation and inductions
n
Coordinate medicals, training and site requirements
n
n
Payroll
n
n
Process accurate weekly payroll
n
Calculate wages, overtime, allowances, penalty rates and leave entitlements
n
Interpret and apply relevant Modern Awards and employment agreements
n
Administer superannuation, PAYG and payroll records
n
Respond to payroll queries and assist with reconciliations and reporting
n
n
HR & Employee Relations
n
n
Provide day-to-day HR support to managers and employees
n




Prepare employment contracts and employee documentation
n
Support performance management and disciplinary matters
n
Maintain HR policies, procedures and employee records
n
Coordinate WorkCover, return-to-work and rehabilitation matters
n
Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards and relevant Awards
n

About You
n
You will ideally have:
n
n
Experience in a broad HR, recruitment and/or payroll role
n
Strong end-to-end recruitment experience
n
Exposure to trades, construction, engineering, mining, industrial or project environments
n
Hands-on payroll processing experience
n
Confidence interpreting Awards, allowances, overtime and employee entitlements
n
Working knowledge of the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards
n
Strong communication, organisation and attention to detail
n
A high level of confidentiality and professionalism
n
n
HR, Payroll or related qualifications will be highly regarded, while experience with Employment Hero would be an advantage.
