Salary: Pro rata of $135,000 - $150,000 FTE + super + salary packaging up to $18,550

We are looking for a Finance Manager to support the CEO, leadership team and Board to deliver the organisation's strategy through effective financial management and advice.
About the role
The Finance Manager is responsible for the effective day-to-day management of the organisation's finance function.
This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced finance professional who can manage core accounting requirements while providing practical financial insights and supporting continuous improvement across finance and operations.
As ThirdStory moves toward a more distributed leadership model, this role will help build financial capability across the organisation, supporting Geographic Directors to take greater ownership of revenue, project finances, resources and performance.
We expect that the right person for this role will be proactive and self-directed,



comfortable working in an evolving organisation where systems and ways of working will continue to develop and have the confidence to challenge constructively and ask for support when needed.
Key responsibilities include:
Maintain strong financial controls and provide clear oversight of ThirdStory's financial position, including cashflow, forecasting and organisational sustainability
Lead budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, year-end, audit and statutory financial compliance across the organisation
Provide timely financial information, insight and challenge to the CEO, Leadership Team and Board to support valuable decision-making
Present monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements to Leadership Team and Board
Support Geographic Directors and senior project leads with business development and project management including pricing, monitoring project budgets, forecasting and assessment of the financial viability of new opportunities
Oversee Senior Accounts and Payroll Officer
Liaise with external accountants, auditors and other advisers as required
Review and maintain finance policies and procedures
Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, processes and controls
Essential skills & experience
Genuine interest in our mission




CPA or CA qualification
5+ years of experience in a financial management role
Experience prioritising and managing a range of complex initiatives, with a demonstration of strong judgement and curiosity to identify emerging risks
Exceptional IT skills across financial platforms
Experience in Xero accounting system and business intelligence tools
Advanced financial analysis skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to communicate at all levels and translate financial information into clear advice for the team
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Experience preparing consolidated reporting across multiple geographies and currencies (desired)
Location:the successful candidate will be based in either our Perth or Melbourne office and have the ability to travel across Australasia.
Salary: pro rata of $135,000 - $150,000 FTE ($81k-$90k actual) plus super and salary packaging up to $18,550, depending on skills and experience, along with:

Contract
For our team, it is standard practice to offer a one-year fixed-term contract at the outset before considering permanent appointments.
Our intention is for this to become a permanent role after the first year if the business pipeline and work are flourishing.
