Introduction: Safe Steps is the only 24/7, family violence response centre in Victoria, providing a "state-wide entry point" for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence. Services include information and referral, crisis response, specialist family violence risk assessment, safety planning, Webchat, and access to supported crisis accommodation.

THE ROLE
n
Reporting to the Team Leader, the Family Violence Crisis Specialist - Brief Intervention will work as part of the Victorian statewide family violence service, providing specialist brief intervention case management responses to adult and child victim‐survivors.
n
This role requires a high level of professionalism, sound ethical practice,



and the ability to work calmly and effectively in a crisis‐driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide telephone and web‐based crisis intervention, information, advice, and referrals to victim‐survivors and service providers
n
Deliver brief intervention case management, including risk management and safety planning
n
Assess and respond to family violence risk using the MARAM Framework
n
Work in alignment with trauma‐informed, evidence‐based practice
n
Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives
n
Actively participate in team collaboration, supervision, and reflective practice
n
Promote inclusive and culturally protected practice for LGBTIQA+, CALD, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and people with disabilities
n
Maintain accurate, high‐quality client records in line with legislative and organisational requirements
n
Participate in reflective practice, supervision, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
