Job Description
As a Commissioning Generator Technician, you will be responsible for commissioning, testing, fault finding and supporting diesel and gas generator systems ranging from standby installations to large multi-megawatt power stations.

Working alongside experienced commissioning engineers and technical specialists, you'll be involved in delivering complex projects within hyperscale data centres, mining, commercial, industrial and utility sectors throughout Australia.
n

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Commission diesel and gas generator systems in accordance with project specifications and Australian Standards.
n
Perform mechanical and electrical commissioning activities.
n
Conduct Level 1-5 commissioning, integrated system testing (IST), load bank testing and functional testing.
n
Configure and test generator control systems, synchronising equipment, ATS systems and switchgear.
n
Carry out protection testing, controls verification and performance validation.
n
Diagnose and rectify electrical, mechanical and control system faults.
n
Prepare commissioning documentation, test reports, punch lists and handover documentation.
n
Liaise with project managers, clients, OEM representatives and subcontractors.
n
Ensure all activities are completed safely and in accordance with UPSA's HSEQ procedures.
n
Travel to customer sites across Victoria,



interstate and occasionally overseas when required.

About You
n
You are passionate about power generation, enjoy solving technical challenges and take pride in delivering quality workmanship.
n
n
A-Grade Victorian Electrical Licence.
n
Demonstrated experience commissioning or servicing diesel and/or gas generator systems.
n
Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding ability.
n
Current Australian Driver's Licence.
n
White Card.
n
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
n
Ability to work independently and within a team workplace.
n
Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
n
Full Australian working rights.
n
n
Highly Desirable
n
n
Experience with Caterpillar, Cummins, MTU, Kohler, Mitsubishi or other major OEM generator packages.
n
Knowledge of ComAp, Deep Sea Electronics (DSE), Woodward, DEIF or CAT EMCP control systems.
n
Experience with medium-voltage switchgear and generator circuit breakers.
n
HV switching and testing experience.
n
Experience with protection relays and power system testing.
n
Ability to interpret electrical schematics, protection drawings and single-line diagrams.
n
PLC,



SCADA and Building Management System (BMS) integration experience.
n
Experience working on Tier 1 Data Centre projects.
