Production Support Software Developer (Ruby on Rails)

Production Support Software Developer
to join our team supporting and enhancing enterprise financial services applications.
This role combines strong software development skills with a production support mindset. You will be responsible for investigating and resolving production issues, delivering application fixes and enhancements, maintaining platform security and reliability and ensuring client service commitments are met.
You will work closely with developers, testers, operations teams and other stakeholders to maintain stable, secure and high-performing production environments.
As part of the role,
flexibility with working hours is required
, as software releases, security patching and production deployments are regularly scheduled outside normal business hours.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Providing
Level 3 production support
for business-critical financial services applications
Investigating, diagnosing and resolving production incidents and application issues
Managing production issues in accordance with agreed
Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
, including response and resolution targets
Performing root cause analysis for production incidents and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence
Planning and delivering
security patches, dependency updates and application upgrades
to maintain secure and supported platforms




Monitoring and addressing application vulnerabilities and technical risks in line with security requirements
Supporting planned software releases and deployments across production and non-production environments
Participating in
regular outside of business hours deployments and release activities
Working closely with testing, operations and development teams to ensure changes are appropriately tested and safely deployed
Troubleshooting application, database, integration and infrastructure-related issues
Supporting applications operating within modern DevOps environments including
AWS, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines
Maintaining explicit technical and support documentation, including incident findings, deployment procedures and operational knowledge
Identifying opportunities to improve application stability, performance, supportability and operational efficiency
Contributing to continuous improvement across production support, release management and software development practices
Your skills and experience:
Proven experience as a
Software Developer or Production Support Developer
, ideally within FinTech, banking or financial services
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose complex production issues
Solid experience with
PostgreSQL, relational databases and SQL/query optimisation
Hands-on experience with
AWS,



Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins)
Experience supporting business critical production applications and working within defined
SLAs
Understanding of application security, vulnerability remediation,
security patching and dependency management
Experience with software deployments, release processes and production change controls
Ability to perform root cause analysis and develop sustainable fixes rather than short-term workarounds
Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to production changes
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to prioritise competing incidents, support requests and development activities
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a
hybrid working environment
Flexibility to participate in planned out of hours deployments, releases and production support activities
Work on
