About The Role
We're looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Project Engineer to join our City Projects team and play a key leadership role in delivering an ambitious capital works program.
This is an opportunity to lead the design of complex projects, influence strategic outcomes and mentor the next generation of engineers while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.
The role will manage, mentor and develop a team of Project Engineers responsible for the planning, feasibility, concept and detailed design of Council's infrastructure projects, providing senior engineering leadership across the full project lifecycle, including brief development, design coordination, tender documentation, engineering certification and construction phase inspections.
The role will act as the technical design leader within the City Projects team, working closely with the Coordinator Design to deliver a high-quality, sustainable and value-for-money capital works program.
You can also expect to:
Lead, supervise and develop a team of Project Engineers
Oversee the design of all engineering projects allocated to the City Projects Design team
Prepare, review, endorse and certify engineering designs, drawings, specifications, tender documentation, project cost estimates,



design programs and management system documents to industry standards
Take senior responsibility for the delivery of design and construction of complex, high-value and politically sensitive projects and programs
Provide expert engineering advice, including advice on referrals and design-related risks
Undertake and supervise engineering inspections and certification during the construction phase
Maintain strong working relationships with service providers and represent Council in technical negotiations
Investigate, analyse and prepare technical reports, briefings and Council reports for projects, issues and risks
Oversee project design governance across the lifecycle – due diligence, risk mitigation, reporting and evaluation
Engage with internal stakeholders, community members, consultants and external providers to develop quality design solutions
Work collaborativelyto achieve business unit goals and Council priorities.
About You
We are looking for a someone who demonstrates:
Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) which satisfies eligibility requirements for professional membership of Engineers Australia
Working knowledge of applicable design criteria, Australian Standards, TfNSW standards, Ausroads guidelines and Total Station Survey
Experience in documentation in AutoCAD, Civil3D
Demonstrated experience in procurement, contract administration and management of engineering consultants under standard forms (such as AS****:**** and GC21)
Current Class C Driver's License.
Desirable requirements:




Tertiary qualifications in Structural Engineering or structural engineering knowledge
Experience in leading a team
Experience in a LocalGovernment environment

Salary: $131,****** - $147,****** + 12% super + civil liability allowance
