Job Description
Occupational Therapist – Full-time or Part time
n
Naturally Kids Allied Health | Townsville
n
$70,000–$100,000 plus superannuation, pro rata for part-time, depending on experience
n
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to join the Naturally Kids team.
n
This position may be full-time or part-time, and we are open to hearing from both experienced therapists and newer clinicians who feel aligned with the way we work.
n
About Naturally Kids
n
Naturally Kids is a paediatric occupational therapy practice supporting neurodivergent children and children with developmental differences to experience belonging and participate more fully in everyday life.
n
We provide relationship-centred, neurodiversity-affirming and nature-informed allied health services through individual therapy, parent and teacher support, regional outreach and a range of therapeutic groups.
n
Our groups are not simply an add-on to individual therapy. They are intentionally designed to give children opportunities to practise skills, build relationships and navigate real-life experiences in a supportive environment.
n
Some take place in the clinic. Others involve nature, games, movement, sport or shared interests.
n
Therapy here does not always look like therapy traditionally has.
n
Our vision and values
n
Our vision is a world where all children, regardless of neurotype or ability, experience genuine belonging throughout their lives.
n
Our work is grounded in three values:
n
n
Connection: Building authentic relationships with children, families, colleagues and our community
n
Trust: Creating environments where people feel psychologically safe, respected and supported
n
Leadership: Acting with integrity, accountability,
reflection and courage
n
n
These values shape how we work with children and families, and how we treat one another as a team.
n
About the role
n
You will work collaboratively with children, families, educators and other members of our team to provide neuroaffirming, evidence-informed occupational therapy.
n
Depending on your interests and experience, your work may include:
n
n
Individual occupational therapy
n
Therapeutic groups
n
Parent and teacher coaching
n
Clinic, community and education-based appointments
n
Opportunities to participate in nature-based therapy
n
Regional outreach, if this is something that interests you
n
Supporting students or developing leadership responsibilities as your role grows
n
n
We are not looking for someone who already knows how to do everything we do.
n
We are looking for someone who is curious, reflective and willing to explore innovative ways of delivering therapy while remaining grounded in evidence, clinical reasoning and the needs of each child.
n
About you
n
You may be a good fit for Naturally Kids if you:
n
n
Are an Occupational Therapist with, or eligible for, AHPRA registration
n
Genuinely enjoy working with children and their families
n
Practise in a neuroaffirming and strengths-based way
n
Value relationships,
participation and belonging
n
Are open to facilitating groups and trying therapy beyond the traditional clinic-room model
n
Are thoughtful about your clinical practice and willing to keep learning
n
Enjoy collaborating with others while also being able to work independently
n
Are comfortable with playfulness, flexibility and the occasional bit of therapeutic chaos
n
n
Previous paediatric experience would be valuable, but alignment with our values, openness to learning and the way you relate to children, families and colleagues matter enormously to us.
n
You will also need, or be willing to obtain, the relevant checks and registrations required to work with children and NDIS participants.
n
What it means to work at Naturally Kids
n
We want every member of our team to feel:
n
Safe. Valued. Supported. Trusted. Connected. Able to grow professionally.
n
For us, that means:
n
n
A salary of $70,000–$100,000 plus superannuation, pro rata for part-time, depending on experience
n
Regular supervision and mentoring
n
A generous professional development budget
n
Flexible working arrangements
n
Sustainable expectations and workloads
n
Administrative and allied health assistant support
n
Genuine opportunities to develop your clinical interests
n
A varied caseload and multiple ways to deliver therapy
n
A psychologically safe workplace where people can ask questions, share ideas and acknowledge when something has not gone to plan
n
A collaborative team that values trust, connection and belonging
n
n
We take our work seriously, but we do not believe that means taking ourselves seriously all the time.
