Lead Security Analyst Cyber Threat Analyst - National Security / Defence

Location: ACT or SA
Contract: 12 months, with 2 x 12-month extension options
Pay: $130-$160 p/h including super (negotiable)
Work type: Full-time, up to 40 hours per week
Work arrangement: Onsite, with specific arrangements agreed with your supervisor on a case-by-case basis
Clearance: Must hold a current TSPV (Positive Vetting) security clearance

About the Role
Lead Security Analyst position available with our Federal Government client in a sensitive national security workplace. This is hands-on security operations work. You will analyse threats, monitor security events, assess vulnerabilities and strengthen security controls protecting important systems.

You will work closely with technical teams and security leadership. The role also develops incident response procedures and supports security test and evaluation activities.

What You'll Be Doing

- Perform threat-driven analysis of system security
- Analyse threat intelligence for system-specific threats
- Monitor security events and information for security incidents
- Develop and use incident response plans and playbooks
- Analyse security vulnerabilities and propose solutions




- Review existing security controls for vulnerabilities
- Develop procedures for monitoring and analysing security information and events
- Support security test and evaluation activities for systems and products
- Support technical leadership as required

What You Bring (Essential Criteria)

- You've worked in a SOC as a Security Analyst
- You've used Splunk Enterprise Security in operational security work
- You've worked hands-on with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) and Network Detection and Response (NDR) platforms
- You can demonstrate practical NDR platform experience
- You've worked with a Security Orchestration and Automated Response (SOAR) platform
- You're an Australian citizen
- You must hold a current TSPV (Positive Vetting) security clearance

Nice to Have (Desirable Criteria)

- Experience with or knowledge of Australian Government information security policies
- Knowledge of the ASD Information Security Manual
- Knowledge of the Essential Eight
