Synopsis:

Agency Purpose

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.

The AEC's values and commitments

The AEC values and commitments are an essential component of our operating environment and frame how AEC staff work. The AEC's focus is on electoral integrity through the values of quality, agility and professionalism.

About the Team

The AEC has a dispersed network of 150 electoral divisions across all States and Territories. The State Office in Western Australia is conveniently located in Perth's city centre and includes the metropolitan areas of Joondalup and Jandakot with the Northern Territory Office located in Darwin.

- There are multiple Electoral Service Officers (APS 3) positions located in Perth and an Electoral Service Officer (APS 3) position located in Darwin (Full-time).
- There is an Electoral Service Support Officer (APS 2) opportunity in Perth (Part-time).

For the delivery of a federal election or local by-elections, staffing rapidly expands to help manage the increased workload around risk management, fast-moving project work and logistical activities, media and public scrutiny.

The Electoral Service Officers (APS 3) and Electoral Service Support Officers (APS 2)

support the Team Leader and work alongside a small dynamic team.

The Opportunities

This is an exciting opportunity to join the AEC and contribute to work that has a direct impact on Australia's democratic processes.

The AEC is seeking multiple versatile and energetic Electoral Service Officers and Service Support Officer to undertake a range of administrative functions in areas of enrolment and election management, and project management and delivery across Perth Metro Divisional Offices and Darwin Office.

The functions include processing special categories of enrolment and contributing to the planning and project management of key election activities including recruitment, staffing and leading the delivery of a number of projects, ensuring communication flows seamlessly and accurately to the Team Leader.

During an election, the Service Officer and Service Support Officer may also be required to supervise a small team as well as provide training to aid in the delivery of planned activities.

The Electoral Service Officer positions (APS 3) are full time, and the Electoral Service Support Officer (APS 2) positions are part-time roles, with full-time arrangements activated during periods of electoral event activity.
