Position Summary
The Finance Manager is a senior operational finance role responsible for driving the day-to-day financial operations of the business. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role ensures the integrity of the general ledger, leads the month-end close process, and provides accurate and timely financial reporting to support business decision-making. The Finance Manager will oversee and mentor the AP and AR functions and act as the primary financial controller for the organisation.
Position Details
Position Title: Finance Manager
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent
Location: Remote (Australia-based)
Salary Range: $120,000 – $130,000 per annum + super + incentives/perks!
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Financial Control
• Oversee and maintain the integrity of the general ledger, including complex GL reconciliations
• Review and approve journal entries prepared by AP and AR staff
• Ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled and substantiated on a monthly basis
• Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure correct coding across all transactions
• Oversight of payroll and its reconciliation
Month-End & Reporting
• Drive and manage the month-end close process, including timetable ownership and accountability across the finance team
• Prepare management accounts including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cashflow forecast
• Conduct variance analysis against budget and prior periods, providing commentary for the CFO and executive team
• Prepare board-ready financial reports and supporting schedules
Budgeting & Forecasting
• Support the CFO in the preparation of the annual budget and rolling forecasts
• Maintain budget models and update assumptions as business conditions evolve
• Provide finance business partner support to operational managers on financial performance
Compliance & Audit
• Ensure compliance with NDIS pricing and funding requirements across all revenue streams
• Manage and maintain core finance systems including MS Business Central, ShiftCare, and Connecteam
• Liaise with external auditors and manage audit support documentation
• Maintain awareness of relevant regulatory changes including NDIS, ATO, and payroll obligations
• Support the preparation of BAS, payroll tax, and other statutory lodgements
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
• Supervise and mentor the AP and AR functions
• Set and enforce month-end deadlines across the finance team
• Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy
• Collaborate with the CFO on AI-powered finance automation and system enhancements
Key Requirements
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA qualified or equivalent
Experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a finance management or senior accounting role
• Demonstrated experience managing month-end close in a complex, multi-site environment
• Experience in NDIS or broader health and community services sector in NFP highly regarded
• Strong proficiency in accounting software (MS Business Central preferred)
• Advanced Excel skills and AI tool proficiency

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• High attention to detail with the ability to work to tight deadlines
• Comfortable working autonomously in a remote workplace
