Environmental Advisor - Solar & BESS Project - FIFO
Major renewable energy project. Greenfield construction. Long-term opportunities with UGL
Join UGL on a major solar farm and battery energy storage (BESS) project near Mount Isa. Working alongside an existing operational solar farm, you'll support the delivery of a large-scale renewable energy project that combines new construction with the challenges and opportunities of a live operating setting.

About the role
Reporting to the site HSE Manager, you'll provide environmental support across construction activities, helping the project meet its environmental obligations while promoting responsible work practices on site. This is a hands-on role that combines field-based environmental management with compliance, reporting and stakeholder engagement.
You will work closely with project managers, supervisors and subcontractors to drive positive environmental outcomes while maintaining compliance with project approvals, environmental management plans and relevant legislation.
Key responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day environmental support across construction activities, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and maintain environmental management plans, procedures and associated documentation.
- Conduct site inspections, audits and environmental monitoring to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Assist with environmental incidents, investigations,
corrective actions and compliance reporting.
- Work closely with project teams, supervisors and subcontractors to promote environmental awareness and drive continuous improvement.
About you
- Experience as an Environmental Advisor or Environmental Officer within construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy, resources or other major project environments.
- A qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related discipline, with sound knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience implementing environmental management plans, conducting site inspections and supporting environmental reporting activities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across project teams and subcontractors.
- A practical, proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to work a FIFO roster of 10 days on, 4 days off.
