City Projects NSW Pty Ltd is a Sydney-based commercial construction and fit-out company delivering projects across the commercial construction sector.
As our project portfolio continues to grow in scale and complexity, we are seeking a Technical Engineer to join our project delivery team and provide dedicated engineering and technical support across our active construction projects.
About the role
This is a dedicated engineering position within City Projects NSW Pty Ltd's project delivery structure. The Technical Engineer will complement the responsibilities of the company's Project Managers by focusing on the specialist engineering and technical requirements of construction projects, allowing Project Managers to remain focused on overall project delivery, programming, procurement, commercial management and stakeholder coordination.
What you will be doing
- Reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Assisting with design and technical documentation for structural-related elements.
- Assisting with the coordination of engineering requirements across construction activities.
- Reviewing construction methodologies and identifying potential technical issues.
- Providing technical and engineering support to Project Managers.
- Coordinating with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
- Monitoring construction works to ensure they are undertaken in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and relevant requirements.
- Identifying technical issues arising during construction and assisting in developing practical engineering solutions.
- Undertaking measurements, inspections and site assessments as required.
- Assisting with quality assurance processes and maintaining technical documentation.
- Maintaining appropriate engineering records and project documentation.
- Assisting with project planning, programming and construction sequencing where engineering input is required.
- Supporting Project Managers in coordinating technical interfaces between different trades and construction disciplines.
- Assisting with the identification and management of construction risks relating to engineering matters.
- Providing ongoing technical support during construction, defect rectification and project completion.
What we are looking for
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent formally assessed engineering qualification or experience relevant to the position.
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience
- Solid ability to read, interpret and apply engineering drawings, plans, specifications and technical documentation.
- Practical understanding of construction methodologies, materials and construction sequencing.
- Experience reviewing technical documentation and assisting with the resolution of engineering and construction-related issues.
- Experience coordinating with consultants subcontractors and project stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a small project delivery team.
