The Quality and Audit Officer ensures operational excellence by validating that ADF Career's various functions consistently adhere to internal policies and processes, quality standards and contractual obligations. Acting as a critical bridge between governance and practice, this role conducts regular audits, tests internal controls, investigates root causes of non-compliance, and partners with operational managers to implement effective corrective actions.
Beyond routine auditing, this position champions continuous improvement and drives readiness for external reviews. As an advocate for the Quality Management System (QMS), you will monitor policy updates, maintain essential compliance toolkits, and help deliver training to foster a culture of accountability.

What you'll be doing
As the Quality & Audit Officer, you will ensure the various functions are aware of, and acting in accordance with, established process and policy,
the Quality and Audit Officer supports ADF Careers ability to deliver outcomes effectively and in line with Defence expectations.
You will:
- Conduct audits and other sampling of activities to confirm alignment with approved policies, processes and contractual requirements, in alignment with the audit plan and business priorities.
- Flag and document instances where procedures are not being followed, investigate root cause, provide feedback to operational managers for correction and monitor corrective actions.
- Maintain a library of audit checklists, templates, and reference guides
- Assist with preparation for external reviews or ISO 9001 audits by gathering operational evidence, preparing stakeholders for participation, and ensuring records are up to date.
- Provide input into development of the annual audit plan using information gathered from completed reviews and observed areas of risk
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by feeding lessons learned and good practice examples into process updates.
- Promote awareness of the Quality Management System including training delivery support.
About you

Your background will demonstrate:
- Experience in an internal audit or quality assurance role.
- Ability to interpret policies, processes, and contractual requirements, including the assessment of compliant application of such documents
- High attention to detail with proven ability to identify errors, gaps, or deviations.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills to engage both frontline staff and leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with tracking and reporting tools.
- An interest in continuous improvement and maintaining high standards of quality and compliance
- Experience working with ISO 9001 or similar quality management framework compliance.
Highly desirable:
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Compliance Professional (CCP), or ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification
- Quality Assurance foundations or above
- Exposure to Defence, operational, or other regulated operational environments.
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks or audit processes (ISO 9001, quality assurance, operational audits).
- Background in root-cause analysis, risk assessment and audit sampling methodologies
- Experience supporting training or awareness activities
