If you’re already running the floor but want more say in how the workshop operates, this is worth a look.
We’re looking for an experienced Workshop Manager or a strong Workshop Supervisor ready to step up — to take ownership of a busy structural steel fabrication operation in Western Sydney.
This is a role for someone who knows fabrication, knows how to lead trades and wants the authority to make decisions rather than simply pass instructions down the line.
You’ll have genuine ownership across people, production, workflow, quality and delivery, with direct involvement in how the workshop performs and develops.
What Makes This Different?
This isn’t a position where you’ll spend your day behind a desk or simply maintain an existing system.
You’ll be trusted to:
- Run the day-to-day workshop operation
- Set production priorities and allocate labour
- Make decisions when programs or priorities change
- Improve workflow and remove production bottlenecks
- Build accountability across the workshop team
- Work directly with project and senior management
- Influence how the workshop operates as the business continues to grow
If there’s a better way of doing something, you’ll have the opportunity to drive it.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Planning daily and weekly workshop production
- Leading boilermakers, welders and fabricators
- Allocating labour across multiple live projects
- Reviewing fabrication drawings and job requirements
- Monitoring production against delivery programs
- Coordinating materials and processing requirements
- Maintaining fabrication and welding quality
- Identifying issues before they impact delivery
- Driving productivity and workshop performance
- Maintaining strong safety and housekeeping standards
- Working closely with project managers, detailers and senior management
Who This Will Suit
You might already be a Workshop Manager looking for more autonomy, or you could be a highly experienced Workshop Supervisor / Leading Hand who is ready for genuine ownership of an operation.
Either way, you’ll need to understand structural steel fabrication properly.
We’re looking for:
- Strong structural steel or heavy fabrication experience
- Workshop leadership experience
- Boilermaking or fabrication trade background highly regarded
- Robust ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings
- Experience leading trades and allocating workshop labour
- Good understanding of welding and fabrication quality
- Confidence making decisions and setting expectations
- Strong production and problem-solving ability
- A practical, visible leadership style
- High standards around safety, quality and delivery
Experience around CNC steel processing and modern fabrication equipment will be highly regarded.
The Opportunity
If you’re currently employed but feel you’ve hit a ceiling, are carrying the responsibility without the authority, or want greater ownership of the operation you’re running — this could be worth a confidential conversation.
You’ll be joining an established structural steel business with ongoing project work and the opportunity to make a genuine impact on workshop performance.
Run the floor. Lead the team. Improve the operation. Own the outcome.
