Senior Policy Officer – Settlement

Senior Policy Officer – Settlement sits in the Community and Policy Division. The Settlement team:
- Leads and coordinates implementation and evaluation of the NSW Settlement Strategy
- Works collaboratively with the NSW and Commonwealth Governments, the NGO sector and the community to develop and deliver multi-faceted projects and initiatives
- Provides advice to the CEO and Minister for Multiculturalism on settlement matters
- Supports the NSW Coordinator General for Settlement to work closely with all levels of government, the non-government sector and the community to improve the settlement system in NSW
- Responds to emerging settlement challenges
- Develops opportunities for refugees to participate in government decision‑making
- Coordinates whole‑of‑government responses to Australian Government settlement policy and reviews
- Represents Multicultural NSW on a variety of NSW and Commonwealth Government committees.
What You’ll Do
As part of the Settlement team, reporting to the Associate Director, you will assume senior responsibilities to develop, manage, deliver and evaluate a range of policies,
projects and initiatives to support implementation and evaluation of the NSW Settlement Strategy. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders from across government and not-for-profit sectors and demonstrate a flexible, problem‑solving approach to your work.
You’ll work as part of a team of seven, with two other Senior Policy Officers (9/10), two Policy and Project Officers (7/8) and one Assistant Project Officer (5/6). The team and working environment are collaborative, supportive, responsive and require a detail‑oriented and robust, evidence‑informed approach.

- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing service delivery reforms, strategic initiatives or interagency projects.
- Demonstrated success in undertaking all aspects of the policy process – research, development, implementation, review and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to source, collate and critically analyse information to develop informed positions on policy issues.
- Agile, resilient and committed to innovation and new approaches.
- Exceptional level of written and verbal communication skills.
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications or equivalent, relevant professional experience and training.
