We are seeking to establish a pool of suitable Level 4 Vehicle Compliance Examiners.

There is currently one (1) fixed term position available for immediate filling to July 2027, with the possibility of extension and or permanency.

About the Role

As a Vehicle Compliance Examiner, you will examine vehicles and associated documentation to determine compliance with vehicle standards, legislative requirements, business rules and procedures. You will conduct vehicle examinations, assess vehicle modifications and conditional licensing applications, and undertake investigations where vehicle identity or compliance requirements require further assessment.

The role is also responsible for auditing vehicle examination reports submitted by Authorised Inspection Stations and Authorised Vehicle Examiners to ensure compliance with vehicle standards and statutory requirements. Working closely with internal and external customers, you will provide expert advice on legislative, technical and licensing matters, while supporting the training, mentoring and ongoing development of Authorised Vehicle Examiners and colleagues. Through your work, you will contribute to maintaining vehicle compliance standards, data integrity, customer service outcomes and road safety across Western Australia.

To be successful in this role, you will be assessed against this suitability requirements :





- The essential criteria outlined in the attached JDF ); and
- Think through complexity by applying critical thinking, navigating ambiguity and uncertainty, assessing risks and impacts, and making informed decisions.
- Safety and Compliance Mindset – ability to apply relevant legislation, standards and procedures, prioritising vehicle safety and maintaining quality and compliance requirements when making decisions.
- Ability to undertake regulatory administration and record keeping

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for this or similar future vacancies (fixed term or permanent) that arise within the next 12 months from date of first appointment across the DTMI.

About you

We are looking for someone who

- Brings a Motor Mechanic trade qualification and broad experience working across a range of vehicle types with 2 years post trade experience.
- Has a strong commitment to vehicle safety, compliance and quality standards.
- Can confidently interpret and apply legislation, policies, procedures and technical requirements to make sound decisions.
- Uses strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to investigate issues, assess risks and resolve complex problems.
- Communicates effectively with a range of stakeholders, providing professional advice, guidance and customer service.
- Maintains accurate records, prepares clear reports,



and works effectively both independently and as part of a team
