Role Description

The Traffic Controller role is a full-time, on-site position based in Adelaide, SA. Day-to-day responsibilities include setting up and managing traffic control equipment, directing vehicle and pedestrian flow around work sites, and implementing traffic guidance schemes, road closures and detours in line with approved plans and permits. The role involves monitoring site conditions, adjusting traffic control measures as needed, and communicating clearly with drivers, pedestrians, site supervisors and other team members to maintain safety and minimize disruption.



Traffic Controllers are expected to conduct pre-start checks, follow all relevant road and safety regulations, complete required documentation, and report hazards or incidents promptly. The position requires reliability, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safe work practices in varied outdoor environments.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong Traffic Control and Road Traffic skills, including safe operation of traffic control devices and understanding of local road rules.
- Candidates should possess Traffic Management and Operations Management skills to implement traffic plans, coordinate site access, and support smooth project workflows.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to interact clearly with road users, site teams, and supervisors, and to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Valid traffic control accreditation, white card (construction induction), and a current driver’s license are highly beneficial.
- Experience in civil, construction, or roadworks environments, along with a demonstrated focus on safety, reliability, and teamwork, is preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, stand for extended periods, and handle equipment safely is required.
