The Opportunity

Sante Recruitment is seeking an accomplished Physician and senior medical leader to take on the influential role of Clinical Director of Medicine within a major regional health service in New South Wales.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior clinician who wants to make a genuine difference to the way medical services are delivered.

Working closely with hospital executives, clinical leaders and district-wide stakeholders, you will provide strategic, clinical and operational leadership across a large and diverse Department of Medicine.

Importantly, the position offers an attractive 50/50 balance between leadership and clinical practice, allowing you to remain clinically engaged while having significant influence over departmental strategy, workforce, governance and service development.

About the Department

The Department of Medicine provides a comprehensive range of specialist medical services, including:

- General Medicine
- Cardiology
- Oncology
- Palliative Care
- Gastroenterology
- Nephrology
- Endocrinology
- Respiratory Medicine
- Infectious Diseases
- Hospital in the Home
- Virtual Care

The department is committed to developing contemporary models of care and improving access, quality and outcomes for the regional community.

This role provides an opportunity to build on existing services while introducing innovative approaches to workforce planning, patient flow, ambulatory care, virtual models and integrated hospital-community care.

Key Responsibilities As Clinical Director Of Medicine, You Will

- Provide strategic, clinical and operational leadership across the Department of Medicine
- Lead service planning, redesign and performance improvement initiatives




- Oversee clinical governance, quality, safety and risk management
- Provide leadership in medical workforce planning, recruitment, retention and wellbeing
- Support professional development and succession planning across the department
- Strengthen physician education, supervision and training
- Support training accreditation and the development of junior medical staff
- Champion contemporary models of care, including Medical Assessment Units, rapid-access clinics, Hospital in the Home and virtual care
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, patient flow and clinical outcomes
- Support research and education through established university and medical research partnerships
- Develop strong relationships across medical specialties, nursing, allied health and executive teams
- Represent the Department of Medicine at hospital and health-service leadership forums
- Maintain an active clinical workload within General Medicine or your recognised physician subspecialty

About You

You will be an experienced Physician and collaborative medical leader who combines strong clinical credibility with the ability to lead people, influence change and deliver meaningful service improvements.

Essential Requirements

- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP)
- Specialist registration with AHPRA
- Senior clinical experience in General Medicine or an appropriate physician subspecialty

You will also bring

- Demonstrated experience in medical leadership, clinical governance or service development
- Experience leading organisational or clinical change
- Strong understanding of workforce planning and medical workforce development
- An interest in physician education, supervision, training and accreditation
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills
- A strong commitment to quality, safety and patient-centred care
- The ability to engage,



motivate and inspire multidisciplinary teams
- A forward-thinking approach to contemporary models of healthcare delivery
