About the role

We have an opportunity for 3 Senior Application Developers to be part of our Application Platform Services, Technology & Communication Services Command. The Senior Application Developer guides other application developers and leads in the creation of large or complex applications that facilitate the achievement of business outcomes through the use of process and technology.

- Demonstrated experience working within recognised delivery methodologies such as: PRINCE, Waterfall & Aglie (SCRUM)
- Ability to operate in both structured, governance-driven environments and iterative delivery models

Experience providing technical leadership within project and operational delivery contexts

Strong Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)

- Comprehensive end to end understanding of the SDLC for enterprise application development
- Strong expertise across analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and support phases
- Ability to translate business and functional requirements into robust technical designs and implementable solutions
- Proven experience supporting and enhancing large-scale, long-lived applications

Natural / Adabas Application Development Expertise

- Extensive experience developing, enhancing, and maintaining applications using Natural and Adabas
- Strong understanding of mainframe environments and batch and online processing concepts
- Ability to analyse existing Natural / Adabas codebases and implement enhancements, defect fixes, and performance improvements

Experience supporting legacy systems while contributing to modernisation and service improvement initiatives

Testing Capaility

- Ability to design, execute, and review effective test cases aligned to SDLC activities
- Experience supporting system, integration, and user acceptance testing for enterprise applications
- Strong focus on ensuring solution quality, stability, and adherence to business requirements

Documentation & Processing Mapping





- High attention to detail in technical documentation, specifications, and service mapping
- Ability to understand, analyse, and clearly document complex application logic and data flows
- Skilled in documenting both technical and business processes to support maintainability and knowledge transfer

Workload & Quality Management

- Proven ability to maintain productivity in high-volume and operationally critical environments
- Solid commitment to coding standards, quality assurance, and risk mitigation
- Ability to manage competing priorities while delivering stable, high-quality outcomes
- Demonstrated drive for ongoing application, process, and service improvement
- Proactive in identifying opportunities to enhance system performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Able to work independently on complex tasks while also contributing effectively within a team environment

Adaptability & Learning

- Ability to quickly learn new tools, technologies, and business domains
- Comfortable working with legacy platforms while adapting to evolving technical and organisational requirements
- Structured training and support will be provided as required

Role Focus

The primary focus of this role is senior application development within Natural / Adabas environments, with responsibilities including application maintenance, enhancement, technical analysis, and support. Occasional
collaboration with analysis, testing, and operational teams will be required to ensure end-to-end delivery and system stability.

Total Remuneration Package: Base salary ranges from $154,321 to $160,771 plus employer's contribution to superannuation of 12% and annual leave loading.
