The Shire is seeking an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Finance Manager to join the Corporate Services team.

n

Reporting to the Executive Manager Corporate Services, this role offers an exciting opportunity to ensure corporate compliance in all things financial for the Shire.

What we're looking for:

- Strong background in financial planning, budget preparation and monitoring, financial statement preparation, keeping of accounting records and asset identification.
n
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction, cooperation and trust with relevant groups and individuals to achieve desired outcomes and establish and maintain strong and productive working relationships.
n
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate recommendations clearly and succinctly.
n
- Ability to ensure projects and associated activities are consistent within budgets, timeframes, & allocated resources,



including coordination and management of project consultants when required.
n
- Embrace, support and participate in change to assist in achieving the Shire's goals and objectives.
n

What you need:

n

n
- Minimum of 3 years' experience, ideally in a similar role in local government.
n
- Working knowledge of Australian taxation systems in particular; goods and services tax (GST), fringe perks tax (FBT) and pay as you go (PAYG) as they apply in a local government setting.
n
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership for a multidisciplinary team.
n
- Thorough working knowledge of the Local Government Act 1995 and associated regulations, with experience in interpreting a range of legislation that is complex in nature.
n
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or substantial demonstrated experience in a relevant field.
n
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
n
- Understanding of workplace health and safety responsibilities.
