As a NAB Graduate in Internal Audit, you’ll gain hands‑on experience in a supportive and collaborative environment within your chosen stream. You’ll work on real audit projects, receive structured training and mentoring, complete meaningful work, and build strong connections with leaders and specialists across NAB.
You’ll also gain exposure to how NAB independently assesses risk, governance and controls across the organisation, helping to protect customers, strengthen decision‑making and support long‑term sustainability.
AboutInternal Audit
Internal Audit provides an independent perspective across NAB, delivering assurance and insight to the Board and Senior Management on how effectively risk is being managed. Our teams help NAB meet its commitments to customers by supporting solid governance, control and risk management practices across the bank.
Using a risk‑based and data‑driven approach, Internal Audit reviews key business activities and identifies opportunities for improvement. We work closely with business stakeholders to support regulatory compliance, operational efficiency and resilience in a complex and evolving banking environment.
Internal Audit delivers independent assurance through business‑aligned teams across:
- Business & Private Banking and Corporate & Institutional Banking
- Personal Banking, Operations and Financial Crime
- Technology & Data
- Enabling Units and Regulatory Assurance
- Program Assurance
Graduate roles are aligned to these teams,
with opportunities to rotate across different areas during the program.
What you’ll do in Internal Audit
Throughout the graduate program, you’ll develop a strong foundation in audit, risk and assurance. You’ll have opportunities to:
- Support audit delivery teams in planning, documentation and execution of audits
- Assist with control testing, including design and operational effectiveness testing
- Support issue validation and follow‑up activities
- Review governance, risk management and internal control frameworks
- Contribute to audit initiatives across data analytics, continuous assurance and emerging technologies such as AI
- Work with stakeholders at all levels to discuss audit outcomes and recommendations
- Translate complex audit findings into clear, actionable insights
- Provide technical or subject matter support where appropriate
Locations
Graduate roles in Internal Audit are primarily based in Melbourne, with some opportunities available in Sydney.
Program Start Date
The 2028 NAB Graduate Program commences in February 2028.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply, you must:
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizenship or be an Australian Permanent Resident at the time of applying.
- Have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in the past three years (2025, 2026 or 2027) or be due to complete it by the commencement of the program.
