Job Description
JS Careers is partnering with a leading markets-aligned financial services business, on a confidential basis, to appoint a Senior Operational Risk Manager. Reporting to the Head of Operational Risk, you'll provide independent, second-line oversight of operational risk across the organisation's Equities and Fixed Income divisions, as part of a broader Risk Division.

You'll work closely with first-line teams - including Enterprise Risk Advisory and the Equities and Fixed Income COOs - acting as both a trusted partner and a constructive challenger. This is a hands-on, front-to-back role spanning trade lifecycle risk, regulatory deliverables, and change oversight.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide independent challenge and oversight of the operational risk profile across Equities and Fixed Income, including trade processing, market conduct, and control environment effectiveness
n
- Partner with first-line stakeholders to identify, assess, and remediate control gaps, driving a culture of proactive risk ownership
n
- Take direct ownership of risk-owned deliverables associated with CFTC Swap Dealer obligations, including relevant reporting, attestations, and control assurance activities
n
- Represent Operational Risk in change initiatives affecting the Equities and Fixed Income businesses - including system, process, and product changes - ensuring risk considerations are embedded from design through implementation

- Contribute to the evaluation and sign-off of new business approvals, assessing operational risk implications before onboarding or launch
n
- Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs)
and emerging risk themes across the businesses, escalating material issues to senior stakeholders and risk committees
n
- Support incident investigation, root cause analysis, and the development of remediation plans for operational risk events
n
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the operational risk framework, methodology, and reporting standards across the Risk Division
n
- Build and maintain robust working relationships with Internal Audit, Compliance, and other second-line functions to ensure a coordinated risk view across the front-to-back trade lifecycle

About You
n
n
- 7-10 years' experience in operational risk management within equities, FX, commodities, or fixed income businesses
n
- Strong understanding of the operational and conduct risks inherent in financial markets, including trade lifecycle, market structure, and regulatory obligations
n
- Background in operational risk, internal audit, or a related discipline within a complex, international environment, with demonstrated ability to assess and challenge control frameworks
n
- Working knowledge of derivatives regulatory regimes (e.g. CFTC Swap Dealer requirements) highly regarded
n
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to influence senior audiences and articulate complex risk topics clearly and concisely
n
- A commercial, pragmatic, forward-looking mindset, with a talent for spotting emerging risks and offering practical, risk-based recommendations
n
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills, with the ability to translate detailed risk analysis into clear, actionable insight for senior stakeholders
