Mental Health Nursing offers the opportunity to work alongside people at some of the most vulnerable and important times in their lives. You'll provide person-centred, recovery-focused care while developing broad clinical skills in assessment, therapeutic engagement, risk management, care planning and complex mental health presentations.

About the unit
Our Mental Health Inpatient Unit provides assessment, treatment and therapeutic care for people experiencing acute mental health concerns who require inpatient support.
Working within the unit provides exposure to a diverse range of presentations and the opportunity to develop strong mental health assessment, clinical reasoning, therapeutic communication and risk management skills.
You’ll work alongside nursing, medical and allied health professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team, with a shared focus on providing safe, respectful and recovery-oriented care.

You'll be supported by colleagues who understand the challenges of mental health nursing and the importance of working together to achieve the best possible outcomes for consumers.

About you
We're looking for a Registered Nurse who is compassionate, curious and genuinely interested in supporting people experiencing mental health challenges.
You’ll bring:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Clinical knowledge and skills relevant to Mental Health Nursing.
- Strong assessment, clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to recognise and respond appropriately to clinical and psychosocial risk.
- Robust communication skills and the ability to build therapeutic relationships with consumers,
families and carers.
- A collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams.
- A commitment to person-centred, trauma-informed and recovery-focused care.
- Flexibility to participate in a seven-day rotating roster, including night duty, weekends and public holidays.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who sees the person beyond the diagnosis and wants to make a meaningful contribution to their recovery.
