Role Description

The Waste Management Specialist is a full-time, in office role based in Sandhurst, VIC. This position is responsible for overseeing daily waste handling operations, including collection, sorting, and disposal of solid waste and recyclables in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements. The specialist monitors waste streams, ensures proper segregation, and coordinates with internal teams and external partners to optimize efficiency and safety. Typical tasks include conducting site inspections, maintaining accurate records and reports, supporting environmental compliance initiatives, and identifying opportunities to improve recycling rates and waste reduction practices.



The role also includes delivering training to colleagues and site personnel on best practices in waste management, safety, and environmental standards.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated skills in Waste Management and Solid Waste Management, including day-to-day operational oversight and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with Recycling processes and practices, with the ability to implement and improve recycling programs.
- Knowledge of Environmental Science and related principles to support sustainable waste practices and environmental protection.
- Ability to design and deliver Training on waste handling, safety procedures, and environmental guidelines.
- Relevant qualification in environmental science, waste management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental regulations, with a commitment to safe work practices.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with operational teams and external stakeholders.
- Sound organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and reliability in record-keeping and reporting.
- Previous experience in utilities, waste services, or industrial operations is an advantage.
