About the Role

Guardian Mechanical Services is seeking a motivated Air Conditioning Service Technician to join our growing Sydney-based service team.

This role is suitable for someone who enjoys practical work, problem solving and being out in the field rather than sitting behind a desk.

Importantly, you don't need to be a qualified Air Conditioning (HVAC) technician or have previous air conditioning experience to apply.

We'll provide practical on-the-job training and support from experienced HVAC technicians. For the right person, this position can also provide a pathway into a formal Air Conditioning & Refrigeration apprenticeship and a long-term trade career.

You'll work across commercial buildings, schools, government facilities, residential developments and other client sites throughout Sydney and NSW.

What You'll Be Doing

Depending on your experience and level of training, your work may include:

- Assisting with planned preventative maintenance of air-conditioning and ventilation equipment.
- Inspecting and servicing HVAC equipment at client sites.
- Assisting qualified technicians with fault finding and repairs.
- Learning how to identify common HVAC faults and equipment issues.
- Checking filters, belts, fans, motors, controls and other mechanical components.
- Learning to use testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Recording asset information, service results, photographs and identified defects.
- Completing digital service reports using company systems.
- Following Safe Work Method Statements, safety procedures and client site requirements.
- Communicating professionally with clients and site representatives.
- Keeping tools, equipment and company vehicles organised and well maintained.




- Working alongside experienced technicians while gradually developing the ability to undertake appropriate tasks independently.

You don't need technical qualifications or previous HVAC experience.

We're looking for someone who:

- Is mechanically minded and enjoys hands-on work.
- Is keen to learn and develop technical skills.
- Is reliable and punctual.
- Has good attention to detail.
- Has a practical approach to problem solving.
- Can communicate professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Is comfortable using mobile apps and digital reporting systems.
- Can work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Is willing to work at heights or in plant areas when appropriately trained.
- Takes workplace safety seriously.
- Holds a current and valid Australian driver's licence.

Experience in maintenance, construction, electrical, mechanical, automotive or another hands-on environment would be beneficial, but it is not a requirement.

The majority of our work is across Sydney; however, some travel throughout NSW may be required. Approved work-related travel, accommodation and associated costs are covered by Guardian.
