The Opportunity

Join our Jandakot team as Business & Finance Manager supporting Venture Smart, a 50/50 Joint Venture between Ventia and Johnson Controls delivering Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) maintenance and electrical capital works across Western Australia.

As a key member of the Venture Smart Leadership Team, you’ll lead financial performance, commercial governance and business planning, while partnering with operational leaders to maximise profitability, manage risk and drive continuous improvement.

Key Accountabilities Financial & Commercial Management

- Lead financial and commercial management of the contract, ensuring compliance with Ventia, Joint Venture, contractual, statutory and corporate requirements.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, P&L;, balance sheet, cash flow, CVRs, working capital and financial performance.
- Provide accurate financial and commercial analysis, modelling and insights to support business planning, operational decisions and performance improvement.
- Manage revenue, claims, invoicing, cost control and commercial mechanisms to optimise cash flow, profitability and margin.
- Identify and manage contractual obligations, risks, opportunities, variations, claims, change and commercial exposures.
- Provide commercial input to tenders, pricing, business cases, work-winning and supply chain management.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

- Maintain effective financial controls, governance, systems, data integrity and Delegations of Authority.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, taxation,



contractual obligations and Joint Venture requirements.
- Lead audit activities and resolution of findings, while proactively managing financial and commercial risk.

Business Performance & Improvement

- Partner with the Contract Director and operational leaders to drive sustainable revenue growth, profitability and client outcomes.
- Develop meaningful KPIs, dashboards and reporting to improve performance visibility and accountability.
- Lead process improvement, automation and systems enhancements across finance, commercial and business support functions.
- Support contract mobilisation, SAP and system upgrades, including implementation, UAT, training and data validation.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, resource optimisation, R&D; rebates and other financial recoveries.

Leadership & Capability

- Lead, coach and develop finance and business support teams, building financial literacy and commercial capability across the wider business.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, commercial awareness and continuous improvement.
- Build team capability through recruitment, performance management, development and succession planning.

About You

- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business, or a related discipline; CA, CPA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Extensive senior-level finance, commercial, or business management experience, ideally in project accounting and contract-based service, construction, maintenance, or infrastructure environments.
- Proven experience leading finance and business support functions, with expertise in financial reporting, management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, financial modelling,



and business analysis.
- Robust commercial acumen across contract reviews, pricing and tender support, risk and prospect management, profit improvement, KPI development, and performance management.
- Experience supporting the mobilisation and transition of new contracts and projects.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Power BI skills; SAP experience preferred, with Oracle also considered.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and clients, contribute to senior leadership teams, and build effective commercial relationships.
- Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving capability, with excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Team-oriented and commercially focused leader with demonstrated capability in coaching, performance management, and developing high-performing teams.
- Ability to translate strategy into operational outcomes while fostering innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability.
