Location: Maroubra, Sydney The SESLHD Mental Health Service is a specialised clinical service, providing care to a local population of over 930,000 residents in the Sydney metropolitan area. We provide care within both hospital and community settings to support people living with mental illness at times when acute intervention is needed, or to remain well in their community and lead their own recovery.

Eastern Suburbs Mental health Service is looking for a Clinical Nurse Educator to join our community team. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for teaching and providing quality evidence based practice and education to our staff.

- Deliver clinical education in ESMHS Community Mental Health
- Contribute to the development of colleagues.
- Provide orientation of new staff and students to ESMHS Community Mental Health
- Provide day to day clinical education support in ESMHS Community Mental Health
- Provide one on one informal education.
- Provide support for skill development in clinical procedures.
- Provide support for career development.
- Provide clinical supervision at the point of care including in the moment feedback on performance.
- Provide an in-service program for ESMHS Community Mental Health

As a Clinical Nurse Educator in SESLHD you will be recognised as a healthcare professional employing your clinical skills and critical thinking in delivering high quality patient care. You will exercise extended autonomy of decision making and professional knowledge and judgement in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills.

You will be an integral part of the interdisciplinary team in the provision of person-centred care; and lead, support and supervise other nurses/ midwives and care roles. You will strive to ensure that the people who receive healthcare experience exceptional care that is person-centred, safe, high quality and compassionate.

You will be part of a team that strives to support each other to reach our potential, focus on what matters most and continue to be innovative in approaches to practice.

Where you'll be working

You will be based at Maroubra Centre, Maroubra. Reporting directly to the Community Mental Health Service Manager.

Selection Criteria To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the following criteria in your application:

1. Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse AND holds relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate.
2. Sound understanding of teaching and learning in the health care workplace (adult learning principles) and demonstrated ability to apply same in practice.
3. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, advanced computer skills and use of software programs to develop and deliver education.
4. Demonstrated clinical teaching and facilitation skills.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of assessment of practice in a clinical setting.
6. Demonstrated commitment to professional development in others and to maintain, improve and broaden knowledge, expertise, capability and confidence across a team.
7. Current Driver’s License and willingness to travel as required in role
