Business Unit The Customer Experience team connects our community with Council services by providing accurate, timely and welcoming assistance across face-to-face, phone and online channels. The team supports customers with a broad range of enquiries and services, helping resolve their needs wherever possible at the first point of contact.
The Opportunity
As a Customer Service Officer, you will be a friendly and professional first point of contact. You will provide accurate information and assistance in person, over the phone and online, while helping customers access a broad range of Council and community services.
This diverse role includes processing payments, responding to customer enquiries and supporting library, visitor information and Centrelink Agency services. You will also help ensure the Omeo Service Centre remains welcoming, organised and professionally presented.
This is a casual position based at the Omeo Service Centre, with hours offered according to operational requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide welcoming, accurate and timely customer service across face-to-face, phone and online channels
- Respond to customer enquiries, resolve matters where possible and accurately record requests in Council systems
- Process payments and complete balancing, banking and online application processing
- Deliver library, visitor information, Centrelink Agency and general service centre activities
What we're looking for:
- At least two years' experience in customer service, including call centre or high-volume phone experience
- A customer-focused approach with the ability to ask appropriate questions and resolve enquiries
- Strong initiative, problem-solving and time management skills
- Experience with cash handling, balancing and end-of-day banking
- Confident computer skills and experience using Microsoft software, internet and database systems
A current Victorian driver's licence is required. The successful applicant will also need to undertake a police check and hold a current employee Working with Children Check.
