About the role The City of Salisbury is seeking a motivated and detail-focused Data Migration Analyst to join the Business Transformation team within Corporate Development on a fixed-term two-year contract.
Reporting to the Project Technology Lead, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful migration of data across key business systems and transformation initiatives. Working closely with business stakeholders, technology teams and external vendors, you will analyse, cleanse, map, validate and reconcile data to ensure it is accurate, complete and fit for purpose.
This role would suit someone who enjoys diving into complex data, identifying issues, improving data quality and translating technical information into meaningful business outcomes. You will be comfortable working across a variety of tasks, building relationships with stakeholders and maintaining a strong focus on accuracy, compliance and documentation.
Your key responsibilities will include
- Plan, coordinate and deliver data migration activities for business systems and transformation projects.
- Analyse, profile and assess data quality across multiple source systems.
- Identify data anomalies, gaps and inconsistencies and recommend remediation activities.
- Develop and maintain data mappings and transformation rules.
- Execute and support data migration activities across testing and production environments.
- Conduct data validation, reconciliation and quality assurance activities.
- Investigate and resolve data migration issues and defects.
- Maintain migration plans, documentation and audit records.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to ensure migrated data meets operational requirements.
- Collaborate with technology teams and external vendors to support successful migration outcomes.
- Monitor data-related risks, issues and dependencies and support mitigation activities.
- Contribute to the development of sustainable data migration processes and practices.
About you
You are an analytical and highly organised professional who enjoys working with data and solving problems. You have a strong attention to detail and understand the importance of data integrity, compliance and accuracy.
You are equally comfortable working with technical teams and business stakeholders, asking questions, challenging assumptions and ensuring data is understood in the context of business processes and outcomes.
You are adaptable, cooperative and willing to roll up your sleeves to support the broader team when required.
You will also have
- Experience planning and delivering data migration activities for business systems.
- Strong data analysis, cleansing, profiling and validation skills.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Experience developing data mappings, transformation rules and reconciliation processes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Ability to translate complex data issues into practical business language.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
- National Police Clearance.
- Experience working with enterprise systems, reporting platforms or data warehouses (desirable).
- Experience within local government or the public sector (desirable).
- Exposure to Agile delivery environments (desirable).
- Relevant qualifications in Information Technology, Data Analytics, Business or a related field (desirable).
