About the role
n
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join Orica in Brisbane as part of our Summer Internship Program.
n
As an Emerging Future Shaper, you'll have the opportunity to take what you've learned at university and apply it in a real-world environment. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll gain practical exposure to engineering challenges, contribute to meaningful work and build an understanding of how mechanical engineering supports Orica's operations and technology.
n
This is a great opportunity for a curious and motivated engineering student looking to develop their technical capability, problem-solving skills and industry experience within a global organisation.
n
The internship will commence in December 2026 and run for approximately 12 weeks.
n
What you will be doing
n
As part of the internship, you will have the prospect to:
n

- Support the team with mechanical engineering projects and day-to-day technical activities.
n
- Apply engineering principles to help investigate and solve practical technical challenges.
n
- Assist with engineering analysis, documentation and project-related activities.
n
- Work collaboratively with engineers and stakeholders across different disciplines.
n
- Gain exposure to Orica's technologies,
operations and engineering environment.
n
- Contribute ideas and a fresh perspective while learning from experienced professionals.
n
n
What you will bring

- Current studies towards a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
n
- A genuine interest in applying mechanical engineering principles to real-world challenges.
n
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
n
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
n
- A collaborative approach and willingness to learn from others.
n
- Curiosity, initiative and an openness to new ideas and experiences.
n
- Ability to work onsite in Brisbane for the duration of the internship.
n
- Legal right to work in Australia for the duration of the program.
n
