Position Title: Hospital Medical Officer - General Stream (PGY3+)

Classification: HM13 - HM20 (Relevant to year of experience)

Salary per hour (exc. super): As per award

Hours per fortnight: 76 - Full Time / 38 - Part Time

Employment Status: Fixed Term (01/02/2027 – 06/02/2028), Full Time or Part Time (job share arrangements can be considered).

Location: Bendigo Health, Swan Hill District Health, Echuca Regional Health, Castlemaine Health

This 12-month PGY3+ HMO position offers the opportunity to broaden your clinical skills across a range of specialties and regional settings. You will undertake four 13-week rotations, with opportunities available across Bendigo Health and our partner health services.

Rotations may include

- Emergency Medicine
- General Medicine
- General Surgery
- Mental Health (Psychiatry)
- Rehabilitation/Geriatric Medicine at Castlemaine Health
- Emergency Medicine / General Medicine at Swan Hill District Health
- General Medicine / General Surgery at Echuca Regional Health
- Intensive Care Medicine (ICU)
- Leave Relief

Rotations may be undertaken at Bendigo Health or across our partner health services, including Swan Hill District Health, Echuca Regional Health and Castlemaine Health. This provides the opportunity to experience a diverse range of clinical environments and patient populations across the region. Our PGY3+ HMO program offers a supportive training environment, strong clinical supervision and diverse rotation opportunities designed to help doctors consolidate their clinical skills, broaden their experience and prepare for future vocational training pathways.

Rotations are subject to service requirements and availability, with every effort made to provide a diverse and rewarding clinical experience.

Your New Division The Clinical Operations Division encompasses acute, cancer and mental health services. We provide a wide range of general medical, surgical and specialty services including but not limited to; Oncology, Cardiology, Renal, Emergency, Women’s and Children’s, Critical Care, Specialist Clinics, Cancer Clinics and Mental Health Services.

Within a state-of-the-art hospital, our Ambulatory and Critical Care, Medical Services, Surgical Services and Women’s and Children’s (including an Early Parenting Centre) areas use the latest technologies to provide excellent care. Our world class Cancer Centre uses a multi-disciplinary,



integrated approach to treat specific cancers.

The Cancer

Centre offers medical oncology, radiation oncology, specialist nurses, clinical trials and cancer research, palliative care, and a Cancer Wellness Program.

The Mental Health Service provides psychiatric care and treatment across a large catchment covering the Loddon Mallee region. Family sensitive practice is central to our models of mental health care and best practice ensures the identification, inclusion and support of families, carers and children.

Each year our onsite Specialist Clinics provide over 100,000 service events, we also see more than 60,000 people in our Emergency Department and welcome around 1700 babies into the world. The Clinical Operations Division assists with the admission of more than 50,000 patients into the hospital each year.
