About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing business. The successful candidate will support the financial operations of a high-turnover business, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, effective cash-flow management, and timely processing of business transactions.

This is a full-time, long-term role suited to an accountant who can work independently while collaborating closely with management, operational staff, suppliers, and external advisers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare, analyse and maintain financial statements, management reports, budgets, forecasts and cash-flow projections.

Review financial records, reports and transactions to ensure accuracy, compliance and efficient financial management.

Manage accounts payable and receivable, including supplier payments, customer invoicing, debtors and reconciliations.

Process and reconcile high-volume financial transactions associated with transport operations, including fuel, vehicle expenses, maintenance, tolls, contractor payments and freight-related income.

Prepare journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, balance-sheet reconciliations and month-end/year-end closing procedures.

Assist with payroll processing, superannuation, PAYG withholding, BAS, GST, tax lodgements and other statutory reporting obligations.

Monitor operating costs, vehicle and fleet-related expenditure, profitability, departmental performance and budget variances.

Identify discrepancies, investigate financial issues and recommend practical process improvements and internal controls.





Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, taxation requirements and company policies.

Liaise with external accountants, auditors, financial institutions, regulators, suppliers and other stakeholders as required.

Provide timely financial information and advice to management to support business planning and decision-making.

Qualification and Experience Requirements A minimum bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Commerce

At least three years of relevant full-time work experience as an Accountant or in a closely related accounting role.

Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, taxation and compliance obligations.

Demonstrated experience in preparing financial reports, reconciliations, budgets, forecasts and statutory reporting.

Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks, together with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

CPA/CA membership, or progress toward CPA/CA qualification, will be an advantage.
