We are currently seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Clerk to join our Finance Team. Position Overview
As an Accounts Officer at JHK Legal, you will play a key role in supporting the firm’s day-to-day finance operations. This hands-on position involves accounts administration, reconciliations, settlements support and accounts receivable activities.
A key component of the role is following up outstanding accounts,
so you’ll need to be comfortable communicating professionally with clients via phone and email to discuss payments and resolve queries. If you enjoy working with numbers, have a keen eye for detail and thrive in a collaborative team environment, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Process daily financial transactions including receipts, payments, journals and account reconciliations.
- Assist with trust accounting activities, bank reconciliations and month-end finance processes.
- Monitor outstanding accounts and follow up overdue invoices with clients in a professional and customer-focused manner.
- Support the preparation of settlement documentation and assist with legal finance and trust-related transactions.
- Liaise with clients, lawyers and internal stakeholders to resolve billing queries and maintain accurate financial records.
- Provide general administrative and finance support to the team while contributing to efficient processes and workflows.
About You
- Have strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Be confident and professional when discussing outstanding payments with clients.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Possess strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Have intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using finance systems.
- Take a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Be a positive, team-focused contributor with a willingness to learn and assist others.
Requirements
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in bookkeeping, accounts administration, legal finance, accounts receivable or collections.
- Strong administrative and financial processing skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly Regarded but Not Essential
- Experience using legal practice management or accounting systems.
- Experience within a legal practice or professional services setting.
