Resort Assistant General Manager – Heron Island / Wilson Island Great Barrier Reef

Aldesta Hotel’s goal is to enhance customer satisfaction and expand our clientele by strengthening our hotel's reputation.

You will work on a rotating schedule as the Acting General Manager in the General Managers absence. While both positions are on Heron Island together you will be the Assistant General Manager together supervising the activities of a diverse workforce to ensure the smooth and profitable running of the business.

As the Assistant General Manager, you will be working closely with the General Manager in all areas of the hotel, from dealing with guest opportunities to strategizing and team building.

Roles and Responsibilities

Employee Management

- Manage the coordination of all employee personnel forms, including hiring, performance evaluations, payroll and benefits related information
- Conduct coaching/counselling sessions; performance evaluations; prepares performance improvement plans, disciplinary documentation and termination of employees
- Ensure that employee-related issues are resolved in a manner consistent with company policies.
- Coordinate the development of key performance goals for all functions and direct reports
- Provide direct management of key functional managers
- Lead, motivate and give direction to all employees
- Communicate all policies and procedures to all staff. Conduct regular meetings to communicate company direction, changes, strategy and performance goals and standards
- Adhere to all local and international laws and guidelines

Financial
- Oversee all company sales activities to ensure all financial goals are achieved




- Analyse company performance and productivity data and implement improvement strategies

Guest Satisfaction
- Promote 100% guest satisfaction throughout
- Instill a 100% guest satisfaction objective to all employees
- Ensure that all guest-related issues are resolved in a manner consistent with the company’s goals and objectives
- Develop and manage annual resort budgets and financial forecasting
- Develop and implement growth strategies for both the hotel and the resort
- Generate revenue targets for both the domestic and inbound markets
- Oversee all company expenses to ensure all financial goals are achieved across all business disciplines

Property Management
- Responsibility for meeting all standards of operations set by the company
- Evaluate and decide upon key investments in equipment and infrastructure
- Inspect and document repairs and cleanliness of property to ensure optimum upkeep and repair, room cleanliness and overall property appearance
- Ensure the resort meets local standards and all local government and central government regulations

Resort and Hotel Operations
- Ensure the overall delivery and quality of the hotel and resort's offerings to customers
- Engage in key or targeted customer activities.
- Define and shape the prevailing performance standards that set the pace and quality of our employee's effort towards their work




- Oversee daily operations of both the hotel and resort

Sales
- Identify and seeks out potential business in the local and inbound markets
- Maintain relationships with local companies and key people to increase hotel's visibility within the local market
- Work directly with sales leaders to coordinate and implement sales and marketing activities of the property and resort in line with company objectives

Skills and Qualifications
- Responsibility for leading all staff and all business areas of the Resort
- An outstanding communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use data to inform decisions

- Advanced English communication skills
- Possess a love for, and at least 15 years in Hospitality
- Minimum five years related hospitality management experience
- Excellent organizational skills to work independently and manage projects with many moving parts
- Development and implementation of a explicit strategic plan for the resort
- Responsibility for analyzing the current situation and making key strategic investment recommendations for future developments of the business
- Must be able to support the development of a healthy internal culture that retains key employees

Candidates must be willing to reside onsite, legally authorized to work in Australia, have no criminal records & possess a clean driving record.
