Step Up and Lead Patient Flow in Princess Alexandra Hospital. Take your nursing leadership to the next level and help shape safe, efficient patient flow across the health service. As an Associate Nurse Manager, you’ll use your advanced clinical expertise to lead teams, optimise resources and support timely access to the right care. About This Role Your current role:
As the Associate Nurse Manager, you'll work alongside the Nurse Unit Manager and Assistant Director of Nursing to provide operational leadership across the Patient Flow Program. You'll play a key role in coordinating patient movement, managing capacity and resources, and supporting safe, high-quality care across the organisation.
- Provide advanced nursing leadership and clinical decision-making across a broad range of specialties.
- Coordinate patient flow and support timely, safe movement of patients across the health service.
- Monitor activity, patient acuity and staffing requirements to optimise allocations and models of care.
- Work collaboratively with the Emergency Department, IAC, TCH, BEC and Patient Access Coordination Hub.
About You You're an experienced Registered Nurse and confident clinical leader who can combine advanced nursing knowledge with strong operational, communication and problem-solving skills. You'll bring specialist knowledge of patient flow and the ability to work collaboratively across complex healthcare environments.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skills and competence in patient flow and nursing practice.
- Strong leadership, critical thinking, problem-solving and clinical coordination skills.
- Ability to effectively manage human, material and financial resources.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.

About Us The Patient Flow Program (PFP) manages patient admissions, discharges, and transfers through various units (Patient Flow Unit (PFU), Transit Care Hub (TCH), Interim Admission Centre (IAC) and Bed Egress Coordinators (BEC) to ensure efficient hospital operations,
safe patient care, and smooth transitions. It also oversees after-hours hospital management and staffing via the After-Hours Nurse Managers and Nurse Pools. It provides governance, real-time and retrospective data analysis (using tools like Capacity Planner and PFM) to monitor trends, drive service improvements, and inform decision-making. It supports staff education, maintains procedures, and ensures compliance with safety, budget, and legislative requirements.
