Galiwin’ku Women’s Space Aboriginal Corporation is seeking multiple Board Directors to contribute to the governance of a Yolŋu-led organisation supporting women, children and community safety in East Arnhem Land.
Based in Galiwin’ku on Elcho Island, GWS works across Yolŋu and Balanda knowledge, relationships and systems. Its services include crisis accommodation, case management, outreach, community education, healing, wellbeing and inclusion programs.
About the role
Board Directors contribute collectively to the governance, performance and compliance of the organisation. This includes reading meeting papers, asking informed questions, overseeing resources, supporting sound decision making and protecting client and organisational privacy.
Board meetings are held every two months, with a payment of $250 per meeting.
About you
You will have a genuine connection to East Arnhem Land and be ready to explain how that connection would inform your contribution to the Board.
You must identify as indigenous.
You will bring sound judgement, respect for community-led leadership and a commitment to women’s safety, wellbeing and self-determination.
You must be available to attend on Tuesday 6 October 2026 at 4.00 pm Darwin time, either in person or via Microsoft Teams.
