ABOUT THE BUSINESS
SAP Investment QLD Pty Ltd is involved in property investment, development and construction projects across Queensland. We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Building Inspector to inspect building works, identify defects and ensure compliance with approved plans, applicable legislation, building codes and relevant Australian Standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Construction Managers, Architects and Surveyors with the planning and organisation of construction projects.
- Interpret construction plans, specifications, regulations, building codes and relevant codes of practice.
- Prepare preliminary sketches, working drawings, inspection documentation and technical specifications.
- Prepare, edit and revise plans, maps, charts and construction drawings where required.
- Coordinate construction work programs and inspection schedules.
- Inspect building work and construction materials for compliance with specifications, regulations, building codes and Australian Standards.
- Conduct progress, pre-handover, completion and maintenance inspections.
- Identify defective, incomplete or non-compliant building work.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, defect lists and photographic records.
- Recommend corrective action for identified defects and compliance issues.
- Verify that rectification work has been completed satisfactorily.
- Calculate relevant project costs and estimate construction and rectification timeframes.
- Collect site measurements and inspection data using appropriate measuring and surveying equipment.
- Perform routine technical computations and plot preliminary site and inspection data.
- Review building plans, drawings, permits and other project documentation.
- Liaise with builders, contractors, engineers, architects, surveyors, certifiers, consultants and project managers.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, reports and supporting documentation.
- Monitor construction quality and compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
- Provide technical advice regarding building standards, construction practices and compliance obligations.
- Attend project sites throughout Queensland where reasonably required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE The successful applicant must have:
- An AQF Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree in Building Surveying, Construction, Building and Construction, Civil Engineering or another relevant discipline.
- At least one year of relevant experience in building inspection, construction compliance, building surveying or a closely related role.
- Sound knowledge of the National Construction Code, relevant Australian Standards and Queensland building requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret construction plans, drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience identifying building defects and preparing professional inspection reports.
- Ability to undertake routine measurements and technical calculations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and sound technical judgement.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple inspections and reporting deadlines.
- A valid Construction White Card.
- A current driver’s licence and ability to travel to project sites.
- Relevant Queensland registration, accreditation or licence where legally required.
